October 28, 2019 by CollegeFootballPoll.com Staff

The year's lightest schedule kicks off on Thursday with a Sun Belt showdown in Boone between undefeated Appalachian State and Georgia Southern. Another Thursday night game draws our attention to the Big 12 when Baylor looks to remain unscathed in a home game against West Virginia.

A lone Friday night affair has Navy at UConn.

Only 48 games are on-tap as 35 teams draw a bye, including Alabama, Iowa, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Penn State.

Saturday's slate has a large number of interesting contests, the best of which is the World's Largest Cocktail Party in Jacksonville featuring the annual Florida-Georgia rivalry in the 97th meeting of their border war.

Saturday also delivers Army at Air Force in the second round of this year's competition between the academies for the Commander-In-Chief's Trophy. Navy defeated Air Force 34-25 on October 5.

Other games to watch include the 89th meeting of BYU and Utah State, the  64th meeting of Miami and Florida State, the 117th Sunflower Showdown between Kansas and Kansas State, and Virginia-North Carolina's 124th edition of "The South's Oldest Rivalry".

Saturday also delivers Virginia Tech at Notre Dame, Oregon at USC, and Utah at Washington.

Group Of 5 contests to keep an eye on have Memphis hosting undefeated SMU, Boise State at a suddenly-hot San Jose State, and Cincinnati visiting East Carolina.
