College Football Playoff Committee Rankings

November 2, 2021 by Staff

The College Football Playoff Committee released its first set of rankings for the 2021 season on Tuesday night with Georgia a foregone conclusion at No. 1. The big questions were which team would wind up at No. 2, and where would Cincinnati be ranked.

As it turns out, Dave Congrove's ballot in the Super 16 Poll was closer than most to matching the committee rankings. He had 1) Georgia, 2) Alabama, 3) Ohio State, 4) Oklahoma 5) Michigan State, 6) Cincinnati, 7) Michigan, 8) Wake Forest, and 9) Oregon.

Oregon and Oklahoma are the only schools that had a wide disparity between Congrove's ballot and the committee, which has 1) Georgia, 2) Alabama, 3) Michigan State, 4) Oregon, 5) Ohio State, 6) Cincinnati, 7) Michigan, 8) Oklahoma, and 9) Wake Forest.

The computer has Oregon all he way back at No. 11 and Oklahoma at No. 2 , but the rest of the top 9 was pretty much similar with 1) Georgia, 3) Alabama, 4) Ohio State, 5) Cincinnati, 6) Wake Forest, 7) Michigan State, 8) Michigan and 9) Notre Dame.

By the way, Notre Dame was 11th on Congrove's ballot and ranked 10th by the committee.
