February 12, 2020 by Staff

Colorado Athletic Director Rick George released a statement Wednesday morning (February 12) that head football coach Mel Tucker had informed him that he is resigning his position, effective immediately. After just one season (5-7) as head coach of the Buffaloes, Tucker was lured away by Michigan State where he replaces Mark Dantonio.

Michigan State announced on February 4 that Dantonio had stepped down as the head coach of the Spartans.

Dantonio's 13-year stint in East Lansing produced a record of 115-57 and he leaves as the school's winningest head coach. He was 69-39 in Big Ten games and 6-6 in bowl games. Mike Tressel was named acting head coach. Under Dantonio, Tressel had been serving as Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers Coach.
