Week 9 Picks: 55-game Slate Kicks off Thursday

October 21, 2019 by CollegeFootballPoll.com Staff

The week is light on pre-Saturday action with a single game on both Thursday and Friday.

Thursday's game features undefeated SMU traveling to Houston as the Mustangs strive to become the New Year's Six Bowls sweepstakes winner by keeping their perfect record intact. The top team from a Group of Five conference gets an automatic bid to the Cotton Bowl. Boise State's loss over the weekend to BYU had handed the lead position to SMU, with Cincinnati and Appalachian State also vying for the honor. But even after the setback to the Cougars, BSU is still in the hunt.

Friday night action turns to the PAC-12 when south division co-leader USC travels to Colorado.

Several marquee games are on Saturday's slate with Auburn at LSU topping the list. Not far behind is Wisconsin at Ohio State, and Notre Dame at Michigan.

Saturday also delivers Washington State at Oregon, and Penn State at Michigan State.
