American Conference Takes 6 Teams From CUSA After Being Pilfered By Big 12

Now the focus moves to Conference USA.

After losing Cincinnati, Houston and UCF to the Big 12 back on September 10, the American Conference today accepted applications from 6 schools to bring its future football membership to 14 schools.

The incoming programs are UAB, FAU, Charlotte, North Texas, Charlotte, Rice and UTSA - all of which currently compete in Conference USA.

The Big 12 also accepted BYU's application to eventually bring that conference's roster up to 12 schools.

The Big 12 was forced to act after losing Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC on July 29.

The musical chairs game that has played out over the last 12 weeks hasn't affected the Mountain West, Sun Belt or MAC.
