NFL Preseason Week 1 Kicks off tonight and FanDuel has your action

August 7, 2025 by CollegeFootballPoll.com staff

Like the majority of computer-based systems, CollegeFootballPoll.com's NFL Picks and Rankings do not provide preseason data, but we are busily preparing for the regular season that begins Thursday, February 4 when Philadelphia hosts Dallas in an NFC East matchup. The Cowboys lead that series, 74-58, including a 3-1 record in postseason meetings. However, the Eagles swept the 2024 games with routs of 34-6 and 41-7.

Preseason games are extremely unpredictable with so many new faces getting their opportunity to audition for a roster spot. FanDuel.com has your NFL preseason odds for every game, including the three games tonight that send Indianapolis to Baltimore, Cincinnati to Philadelphia, and Las Vegas to Seattle.

The Colts and Ravens is scheduled for a 7 p.m. ET kick-off on the NFL Network with the Raiders and Seahawks to follow. The Eagles and Bengals is on NFL+.

Even if the biggest names won't be on the field for long - if at all - you can expect a buzz in the air at the Linc as Philadelphia takes the field for the first time this year as the defending Super Bowl champions.

Preseason also marks that time of the year when fans and couch potatoes are exploring their NFL Fantasy Draft options and hoping they land the hidden gem. .There are obvious draft picks that fantasy players will want to nab, like Travis Hunter (Colorado) with Jacksonville, but there are also second-year players who will see elevated playing time with larger roles.

Cincinnati head coach Zac Taylor said last week that Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase and others would start and possibly play "a few series". We wouldn't expect them to be on the field for more than a half, but it will largely depend on the flow of the game and number of possessions.

Burrow was the NFL passing yards (4,918) and passing touchdowns (43) leader in 2024 and was named Comeback Player of the Year as he started all 17 games after missing 7 in 2023. He also won that award in 2021 and doesn't want to be put in the position to compete for it again.

Chase was the 2024 NFL leader in receptions (127), receiving yards (1,708) and receiving touchdowns (17) - all fitting for a guy who wears a No. 1 jersey.

Philadelphia head coach Nick Sirianni hasn't really tipped his hand, but everyone is expecting his tactic to be the opposite of Taylor.

The hometown fans should expect to see at least one familiar face on the field as linebacker Oren Burks has moved from the Eagles to the Bengals. They won't see edge rusher Josh Sweat who signed with the Arizona Cardinals for $76 million over four years.

If you're looking to spot Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts or Saquon Barkley, keep your eye on the sideline.

Speaking of sidelines, this will be the debut of Cincinnati defensive coordinator Al Golden who was hired away from Notre Dame, and Philadelphia offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo who succeeds Kellen Moore after Moore too the head coaching gig at New Orleans. Golden replaces Lou Anarumo who is now the DC for the Colts after being let go by the Bengals.

Cincinnati has missed the playoffs in each of the last two seasons with 9-8 records.

In the lone NFL Preseason game played, thus far, the Hall-of-Fame game last Thursday that saw the LA Chargers topple the Detroit Lions, 34-7.

Nearly 7 million people watched that game, proving just how starved the public was for football to return.
