MLB filled with big mid-week battles

Detroit, Toronto and Houston are the divisional leaders in the American League, while Philadelphia, Milwaukee and the LA Dodgers top their respective divisions in the National League.

The Chicago Cubs lead the NL Wild Card race, followed by San Diego and the NY Mets.

Boston has dropped 3 straight and fallen 6 behind Toronto in the AL East. The Red Sox sit a full game behind the Yankees who have four in-a-row, and are now tied with Seattle for second in the wild card race.

The Blue Jays, who lead the AL East by 5 full games over the Yankees, continue their series at Pittsburgh after dropping game 1 on Monday before getting the win on Tuesday.

After bring out the brooms at St. Louis, the Yankees moved on to their spring training home in Tampa and put some shade on the Rays with a 13-3 win last night. They play again at 7:35 tonight before heading to Boston on Thursday for a four-game set.

Annie Nader at FanDuel.com offers some MLB Prop Bets to consider today, specifically Jurickson Profar To Record 2+ Total Bases (+100) for the Atlanta Braves as they host the Chicago White Sox at 7:15 eastern time tonight., and Christian Yelich at +175 for at least one RBI as the Milwaukee Brewers take on the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field at 8:05 eastern time.

Milwaukee took game 1 against the Cubs on Monday, but Chicago responded by taking both games of a Tuesday doubleheader. Still, the Brew Crew have a solid 7-game lead over the Cubbies who, in turn, are 5.5 ahead of Cincinnati in the NL Central.

The Dodgers, who are looking to become the first team to repeat as World Series Champions in 25 years, own a 2-game lead over San Diego in the NL West after sweeping the Padres over the weekend. But then they went out to Colorado and lost 4-3 on Monday before rebounding for an 11-4 win on Tuesday. Game 3 gets underway at 8:40 eastern time tonight against the worst team in baseball.

San Diego has a split at San Francisco with game 3 getting underway at 9:40 tonight. The Giants trail the Friars by 9 games.

Houston and Seattle are in a tight race in the AL West with the Astros up by a game-and-a-half. The dead bats have continued for Houston who followed weekend shutout losses at home to Baltimore by scores of 12-0 (Sunday) and 7-0 (Friday) with consecutive blankings at Detroit. The Astros followed up a 10-0 embarrassment on Monday with a 1-0 loss last night. Game 3 is this afternoon at 1:05 eastern time. The Tigers have a 9-game lead on Kansas City in the AL Central.

Seattle hasn't helped itself by following up losses in the weekend's last two games at the New York Mets by dropping Monday-Tuesday affairs at Philadelphia.

The Phillies and Mets will go at it in New York next Monday through Wednesday in a series that could tighten Philadelphia's current 5.5-game advantage or potentially blow it wide open.

Each team is roughly just 35 games away from the end of the regular season. The Wild Card playoffs are scheduled to begin September 30 and the World Series on October 24.
