College Football Programs Roll Out New Uniforms for 2025

College football teams across the country have been busy this summer showing off their new threads for the upcoming season. More than twenty programs have either switched apparel companies or updated their looks, with most changes happening between June and July.

The biggest moves involved major brand switches. Auburn ditched Under Armour after twenty years and signed with Nike. Boston College made headlines by becoming the first college football program to partner with New Balance. Hawaii also went back to Nike after spending time with Adidas.

Brand Switches Create Fresh Looks

Auburn switched to Nike but didn't change much with their white, navy, and orange uniforms. The biggest thing you'll see is that they made the "AUBURN" text bigger across the chest. Other than that, they stuck with what works. Same helmet style with either white or navy facemasks.

Boston College went with New Balance, which is pretty interesting since they've never done college football before. The Eagles kept their maroon and gold but got rid of those interlocking "BC" logos for stripes on the shoulders instead. New Balance didn't want to mess around too much on their first college football deal.

Hawaii's return to Nike produced some sharp white road uniforms. The designs feature tribal accents and that bright green Hawaii is known for. The Warriors also updated their black home uniforms as part of the switch.

Creative Designs Stand Out

Houston created one of the season's most talked-about alternates with powder blue uniforms that pay tribute to the city's Oilers history. The Cougars paired these with updated white helmets that feature powder blue wordmarks outlined in red.

Tennessee refreshed their popular "smokey grey" alternate uniforms with a new "Volunteer Spirit" edition. These uniforms honor military service and will debut in November against New Mexico State. Tennessee plans to switch back to Adidas when their Nike deal expires in 2026.

Cincinnati showed off their new Nike partnership with updated white, black, and red uniforms. The Bearcats brought back their "C paw" logo and introduced a custom Speed Block font for numbers. They also have two-toned numbers for the first time since 2007.

Regional Programs Make Changes

Iowa State debuted new red helmets with a scripted "Cyclones" wordmark in white text and gold trim. The design includes white and gold stripes on the crown plus white facemasks.

West Virginia brought back glossy navy helmets after using matte finishes for over ten years. The Mountaineers also created 1965 throwback uniforms with mustard-colored helmets that feature a light blue outline of West Virginia.

Tulane kept their distinctive Kelly green, light blue, and white color combinations but made their "TULANE" wordmark much bigger. The Green Wave continue to have some of the most unique colors in college football.

Charlotte moved away from gold as their primary color and adopted a green and white scheme similar to Ohio University. This change comes under the new coach, Tim Albin, who previously coached at Ohio.

New Mexico State updated their Under Armour template but got mixed reactions for their new crimson home uniforms. The design features wide shoulder piping and an updated wordmark that some people find hard to read.

Looking Ahead

The 2025 uniform changes show programs trying to balance modern design with traditional elements. Teams used new partnerships and updated templates while still honoring their histories and school colors.

These uniform updates represent more than just new clothes. They show program investment and efforts to connect with recruits and fans. Whether these new looks help teams perform better on the field remains to be seen, but they've certainly generated plenty of discussion heading into the season.
