Dallas Football Classic renamed TicketCity Bowl

November 8, 2010 by CFP Staff and TicketCity

Bowl officials announced on Monday (November 8) that TicketCity, a leader in the secondary ticket industry for more than 20 years, has become the title sponsor of the Dallas Football Classic, now officially named the TicketCity Bowl.

The inaugural TicketCity Bowl will be held on January 1, 2011 at the Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas, TX. The bowl will host teams from the Big Ten and the Big 12 conferences. Those teams will officially be announced on December 5, 2010. The Cotton Bowl Stadium last hosted a college football post-season game in January 2009. This is the Austin, TX-based retailer's first year sponsoring the bowl.

"We are more than excited to be part of the continuing tradition of post-season college football at the historic Cotton Bowl," says Randy Cohen, Founder and CEO of TicketCity. "We look forward to this opportunity to be part of an unforgettable experience for TicketCity clients, our employees, college football fans and the Dallas community. What a way to kick off the New Year!"

Nearing its 90th anniversary, the Cotton Bowl Stadium has seen countless NFL and college football champions crowned on its field and ranks second only to the Rose Bowl in having hosted the most bowl games. Renovations made in 2008 ensure the 92,000-seat stadium is ready for TicketCity Bowl action, and to welcome in the New Year with the first college football game of 2011.

"Obviously we are extremely pleased to have TicketCity as our title partner," says Tom Starr, Bowl President & CEO. "The rapid rise of TicketCity to the top of its field of endeavor is a story that we hope to emulate with our new bowl. The name is a natural for a bowl game and we are honored to have it in our title as we kick off what is destined to become a major New Year's Day post-season college football attraction."

Tickets for the TicketCity Bowl are available at TicketCity.com and directly from the bowl. The event is set to take place on January 1, 2011 at 11am CST and will be broadcast on ESPNU. The game kicks off an action-packed New Year's Day of bowl games, culminating with the Rose Bowl and Fiesta Bowl that same evening.

Additional TicketCity bowl sponsorships include the BBVA Compass Bowl, Beef O' Brady's Bowl, Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl, MAACO Bowl Las Vegas, New Mexico Bowl and the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl. TicketCity's official collegiate partnerships include Georgia Tech Athletics, TCU Athletics, University of California, Berkeley Athletics, Vanderbilt University Athletics, and a variety of other university sponsorships.
