Baylor Survives Scare, Appalachian State Does Not

A pair of games on Halloween night involved 2 of the 9 undefeated FBS teams and only one survived.

For the second straight season, Georgia Southern knocked off Appalachian State. Last year, it was 34-14 in Statesboro. This year, it was 24-21 in windy and cold Boone. The Mountaineers came into the game at with a perfect 7-0 record and looking to keep their chances alive for the Group Of Five conference's lone automatic New Year's Six bowl bid, but fell behind 24-7 and a late rally came up short.

Meanwhile, Baylor escaped the upset goblins and downed West Virginia 17-14 in Waco to move to 8-0. The Bears had dropped 3 straight in the series.
