There were no last-minute fireworks at the Las Vegas Bowl on Saturday (December 21) as USC pounded Fresno State 45-20 and the Trojans improbably notched their 10th win of the season under their third head coach of the year.

Offensive coordinator Clay Helton was given the interim job for the bowl game when Ed Orgeron was pushed aside after going 6-2 as interim head coach in the regular season. Head coach Lane Kiffin was fired after the Trojans began the year 3-2.

Fresno State quarterback, and All-American, Derek Carr became just the 4th NCAA QB in history to pass for 5,000 yards and 50 TD passes in a single season.

USC's Nelson Agholor, another All-American, had 2 TD catches.

The Trojans improved to 33-17 in bowl games while Fresno State fell to 10-12 with its 5th straight bowl loss.

The Congrove Computer Rankings had given USC a 0.24-point edge.
