Cincinnati's trip to Charlotte in as many years wasn't nearly as much fun for the Bearcats who were rolled 39-17 by North Carolina on Saturday in the Belk Bowl.

Cincinnati was a 48-34 winner over Duke in last year's game, but could never find an offensive rhythm against a strong defensive showing by the Tar Heels. The Bearcats could only muster 134 yards and 2 field goals in the first half with 3 drives ending in punts and another on a safety.

T.J. Logan had a 78-yard kickoff return following the safety and Ryan Switzer added an 86-yard touchdown return after Cincinnati's first drive of the second half also resulted in a punt. It was Switzer's fifth punt return for a touchdown this season as he had at least one in four of the last five games.

The Congrove Computer Rankings at CollegeFootballPoll.com had given North Carolina a 0.63-point edge in the ballgame.
