Wake Forest Rallies Past UConn
by Mike Mitchell
December 29, 2007

Connecticut won the first half 10-0, but Wake Forest tallied 24 unanswered points in the second half to take a 24-10 Meineke Car Care Bowl win. The result left both teams with 9-4 records.

Wide receiver Kenneth Moore had 11 catches for 112 yards to give him 98 receptions on the season, breaking the ACC single-season record of 88 held by North Carolina State's Torry Holt since 1998.

UConn's only touchdown came on a 68-yard punt return by Larry Taylor in the first quarter, and the offense only managed 9 first downs the entire game.

The Huskies began the season with 8 victories in their first nine games but went 1-3 down the stretch, including a 66-21 pummeling by West Virginia with the outright Big East title on the line. As it turned out, UConn won a  share of the title when the Mountaineers were upset by Pittsburgh the following weekend.

Wake Forest improved its all-time bowl record to 5-3 with bowl appearances in consecutive seasons for the first time in school history. Connecticut, which began playing in the FBS in 2000, fell to 0-2 in bowl games. The Huskies made their first, and only other, bowl appearance in 2004 when the lost 39-10 to Toledo in the Motor City Bowl.
