#-PLAYOFF POOL: - Each of the Big 5 conferences (ACC, Big 10, Big 12, PAC-12, SEC) will receive an estimated $50 million, whether or not it qualifies a team for the playoffs. An estimated $6 million bonus will be paid for each team a conference sends to the semifinals, $4 million for participating in one of the "Big 6 Bowls", but no additional dollars for reaching the championship game where each school will received an estimated $2 million for expenses. Each of the "Group of 5" conferences (American, CUSA, MAC, MWC, Sun Belt), will receive an estimated $18 million each, Notre Dame will receive an estimated $3.75 million, and remaining independents will bag roughly $1.85 million each. Big 6 bowls that don't host a semifinal game, will split additional revenue with the participating teams/conferences.

PAYOUTS: Amounts shown do not necessarily reflect what each school receives. The conferences have different methods by which bowl money is divided among its membership. Some bowl agreements call for higher payouts to one conference than the other, depending on such factors as which is the "host" conference. Most of the above payouts are based on actual figures from the Football Bowl Association for the 2013-2014 season, while others are published estimates of anticipated payouts for the current year.

(1) (2) (3) (4) (5) - The Bahamas, Camellia, Boca Raton, Miami Beach and Quick Lane Bowl are all new additions to the bowl lineup in 2014-2105. The Quick Lane Bowl will be operated by the NFL Detroit Lions and squeezes out the Little Caesars Bowl.
(6) - The Independence Bowl, which became the AdvoCare V100 Bowl in 2013, will officially be known as the Duck Commander Independence Bowl in 2014.
(7) - The Texas Bowl will officially be known as the Advocare Texas Bowl.
(8) - BBVA Compass dropped its sponsorship of the Birmingham bowl game. Another sponsor is expected to take its place.
(9) - The Gator Bowl, which had been sponsored by TaxSlayer.com, officially becomes the TaxSlayer Bowl.
(10) - The Cactus Bowl, which was temporarily titled Valley Of the Sun Bowl was forced to change its name after Buffalo Wild Wings dropped its sponsorship after just two seasons.
(11) - Beef 'O'Brady's dropped its sponsorship of the St. Petersburg Bowl. Bitcoin took its place.
(12) - Beef 'O'Brady's picked up sponsorship of Citrus Bowl, formerly known as the Capital One Bowl.
(13) - The Fight Hunger Bowl moves to the new 49ers' stadium in Santa Clarta and becomes the Foster Farms Bowl.

The College Football Playoff replaces the BCS. See: College Football Playoff Explained.

Bowl-ineligible: Idaho due to Academic Progress Rate (APR) violation.

Bowl Elibility Restored: Penn State - the school began the season in the third year of a four-year probation, but the NCAA announced September 8 that Penn State's penalties were being shortened to allow for a bowl invitation this season, and the Big Ten shortly afterward announced that Penn State would be eligible to compete for the conference title this season.

Conditional eligibility: Appalachian State, Georgia Southern and Old Dominion (transition seasons from FCS) can be selected after virtually all other eligible teams are taken (FBS reclassification rules). Team must have at least a 6-6 record to even be eligible for the pool.

^ - Group Of 5 - The five conferences that consist of American Athletic Conference, Conference USA, MAC, Mountain West, and Sun Belt. The highest-ranked champion from these conferences is guaranteed one berth if the group's top team is not in the playoff. The remaining at-large/group of 5 slots will be determined by committee rankings.

Notre Dame is eligible for all ACC bowls as long as its overall record is within one win/loss of the bowl-eligible ACC schools.

*- Navy will be invited to the Poinsettia Bowl in 2014, if it qualifies for selection.

*- Army will be invited to the Armed Forces Bowl for 2014 and 2017, and the Poinsettia Bowl in 2015, if it qualifies for selection.

*- BYU will be invited to the Miami Beach Bowl in 2014 and the Poinsettia Bowl in 2016 and 2018, if it qualifies for selection.

*- Hawaii will be invited to the Hawaii Bowl in 2014, if it qualifies for selection.

2015 will see the addition of the Cure Bowl in Orlando. It will become the third game of the bowl season to be played at the Citrus Bowl Stadium and is scheduled to welcome teams from the American and Sun Belt conferences.
