Playoff Committee Jumps LSU over Ohio State

November 13, 2019 by CollegeFootballPoll.com Staff

The College Football Playoff Committee now ranks LSU as the No. 1 team in the nation, following the Tigers' 46-41 win at Alabama this past Saturday. Heading into that game LSU was ranked No. 2, behind Ohio State, and Alabama was 3rd. The new rankings have the Buckeyes and Tigers trading places and the Crimson Tide dropping to 5th.

Clemson rose from 5th to 3rd, and Georgia jumped from 6th to 4th.

Minnesota leapt from 17th to 8th after the Golden Gophers defeated then-No. 4 Penn State 31-26. The Nittany Lions fell to 9th.

Undefeated Baylor receives even less respect than it did in the initial rankings when the Bears were ranked 12th. Baylor dropped a notch to 13th after a triple-overtime 29-23 win at TCU.

Wake Forest and SMU fell out of the top 25 and were replaced by Texas and Appalachian State.

Cincinnati remains the highest-ranked team from a Group of Five conference. The Bearcats are 17th this week, while fellow American Conference schools Memphis and Navy are ranked 18th and 23rd, respectively.
