CFP 2016 All-America Team

December 18, 2016 by Dave Congrove

CollegeFootballPoll.com today announced its 25 college football All-America selections for 2016. The committee is headed by Dave Congrove, owner/operator of the website and a member of the Football Writers Association of America. Congrove is the creator of the Congrove Computer Rankings (CCR Top 128).

The ACC dominates this year's team with 8 selections, followed by the Big Ten and SEC with 5 each.

Sophomore QB Lamar Jackson of Louisville takes top honor at quarterback, besting a lot of other qualified candidates. Deshaun Watson was his closest competitor and would've been a repeat member as Watson was the CFP A-A choice at quarterback in 2015.

Jackson's regular season stats were eye-popping as he ran for 1,538 yards and 21 TD's, and passed for 3,390 yards and 30 TD's.

The running back position had a clear favorite in record-setting Donnel Pumphrey of San Diego State. James Conner of Pittsburgh was the second selection as he topped the 1,000-yard mark and scored 16 touchdowns in a remarkable comeback season from cancer.

Also on this year's All-America team are Groza winner Zane Gonzalez of Arizona State, and Outland Trophy winner Cam Robinson of Alabama,
