FCS Rankings: Computer's Top Ten Stays Same

March 29, 2021 by Staff

The same ten teams hold the top ten positions in the latest Congrove Computer Rankings, released Monday morning.

North Dakota State retains the top spot, but only by 0.08 ratings points above James Madison. The Bison had their game at South Dakota canceled, but the Dukes swung back into action after a two-week layoff from Covid and easily dispatched William & Mary 38-10.

The North Dakota State game was one of several that was either canceled or postponed this past weekend with 25% of the schedule scratched, and all but one of those moves was due to Covid. 4th-ranked Kennesaw State's game at Gardner-Webb got caught up in that mess, as did No. 13 Holy Cross, No. 15 Alabama A&M, No. 19 Villanova, and No. 25 Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Meanwhile, Monmouth finally opened its season on its third attempt and the #3 Hawks rolled 35-17 over Charleston Southern.

The rest of the top ten has Kennesaw at No. 4, followed by Montana, Weber State, Portland State, South Dakota State and San Diego.

Neither Montana or Portland State will be eligible for the NCAA playoffs as the Griz only have two games scheduled and the Vikings have just one (at Montana). The playoffs begin the weekend of April 24.
