SEC Football Media Picks Alabama To Repeat

Georgia Voted Eastern Division Favorite For Second Year in-a-row

July 18, 2013

Two-time defending national champion Alabama is predicted by the media to win the SEC title over Georgia. That would be the same matchup as last year's SEC Championship game that saw the Tide eke out a 32-28 win at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

Texas A&M finished second in the west in media voting while earned runner-up status in the east.

In the Western Division race Alabama received 225 first-place votes to 11 for the Aggies and 7 for LSU. Nick Saban's team has won three of the last four BCS titles.

In the Eastern Division, Georgia gained 149 first-place votes to 75 for South Carolina and 19 for Florida.

An SEC team has captured the last seven BCS titles, but no Eastern Division team has done so since Florida in 2008.

A record 243 voters participated in the SEC media days poll. The previous high was 222 voters last year.
