Week 6 Delivers 4 Head-to-Head Matchups Of Undefeated Teams

September 26, 2017 by Dave Congrove

Twenty-four teams enter this week's slate with an unblemished record. That number will drop to at least 20 as 4 games feature matchups between undefeated opponents.

There are 2 such games on Friday night alone, as No. 38 Duke hosts No. 13 Miami, and No. 9 Washington State entertains #8 USC. The Hurricanes are 12-2 all-time against the Blue Devils and have won the last 3 meetings, while the Trojans are 59-9-4 overall versus the Cougars. This week, The Congrove Computer Rankings at CollegeFootballPoll.com like Miami by 8.60, but takes Washington State by 2.78 to upend USC.

Saturday night sends 5th-ranked Clemson to No. 7 Virginia Tech where college football fans will get to begin their day early with ESPN's College GameDay crew on-hand for the first time since 2007. The Tigers hold a current 4-game winning streak against the Hokies after losing the previous five. The computer gives Clemson a 2.09-point edge.

The fourth and final undefeated matchup has No. 31 UCF hosting No. 32 Memphis in a Hurricane Irma make-up game, The Golden Knights get a 3.13-point advantage in that contest.

Five unbeaten teams are idle this week - Michigan, Oklahoma, TCU, Utah and UTSA.

A 54-game schedule involving 107 FBS teams kicks off Thursday when Texas visits Iowa State.
