Super 16 Poll: Georgia and 'Bama Switch Places as The 'Dawgs Take 4th

November 17, 2019 by Courtesy FWAA

LSU, Ohio State and Clemson remained the top three teams in that order for a second straight week. The same 16 teams were ranked in the poll for a third straight week. The poll is voted on by a panel of 46 football writers and college football Hall Of Fame members.

Two first-place votes transferred from LSU to Ohio State, while Clemson retained its only first-place vote.

Georgia moved up to No. 4 after beating Auburn, edging past Alabama, which also won on the road at Mississippi State. Oklahoma won a big road game at Baylor and moved up only one slot to No. 7. Minnesota fell four spots to No, 11 after losing at Iowa.

The Big Ten and SEC led all leagues with five teams each. The Big 12 and Pac-12 had two each. The ACC and Independents had one each.

About the Poll

The poll was established at the conclusion of the 2013 season by long-time partners, the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and the National Football Foundation (NFF). Voters rank the top 16 teams in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, and the results will be released every Sunday of the 2019 season; the individual votes of all members will also be made public. The pollsters consist of FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective.
