Ohio State handles Michigan; FSU wins Four-and-Six Bowl over Florida

November 25, 2017 by Dave Congrove

Though Ohio State trailed 20-14 when quarterback J.T. Barrett left the game with a leg injury in the third quarter, the Buckeyes rallied to beat hated rival Michigan 31-20. Dwayne Haskins was 6-of-7 for 94 yards in relief and, most importantly, completed the drive that Barrett began to give Ohio State a 21-20 lead on J.K. Dobbins 1-yard run. Haskins had a 27-yard pass completion for a first down on 3rd-and-13 and then ran 22 yards to the Wolverine 1 two plays later to set up Dobbins' TD.

Saturday was the first time since 1958 that Florida State and Florida met with both teams owning losing records (the series began in 1957). FSU kept its bowl hopes alive with a 38-22 win in Gainesville to improve to 5-6 while UF finished the season 4-7. The 'Noles host Louisiana-Monroe next Saturday in a make-up game that was cancelled by Hurricane Irma in early September.

In other early games on Saturday, Georgia obliterated Georgia Tech 38-7 and Memphis steamrolled East Carolina 70-13.

UAB brought football back with a vengeance in 2017, finishing 8-4 with Saturday's 28-7 win over UTEP. It's the best record for the Blazers since they joined the FBS in 1996. This was UAB's first season back on the gridiron after abandoning the program for financial reasons following a 6-6 campaign in 2014.
