NOTE: CollegeFootballPoll.com's Dave Congrove is among the voters.

Alabama remained No. 1, receiving all but four first-place votes. Georgia, Clemson and LSU split the other four first-place votes. But Georgia moved into the No. 2 spot by a seven-point margin over Clemson. Ohio State stayed at No. 4 after beating TCU.

Auburn dropped from No. 6 to No. 10 after losing a home game to LSU, which is now in the sixth slot. Wisconsin, which was No. 7 last week, fell completely out of the poll after losing to unranked BYU in Madison. Oklahoma State entered the poll at No. 15 after recording a big home victory over Boise State.

Penn State and Notre Dame are tied for 8th.

The SEC has five teams in the poll, followed by the Big 12 with four. The ACC, Big Ten and Pac-12 have two each. There is one independent.

About the Poll

The poll was established at the conclusion of the 2013 season by long-time partners, the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and the National Football Foundation (NFF). Voters rank the top 16 teams in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, and the results will be released every Monday of the 2018 season; the individual votes of all members will also be made public. The pollsters consist of FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective.
