With the college bowl season upon us, Meineke Car Care Centers, Inc. (Meineke) is helping fans get a thump-start on the madness with Thump Bowl 2007, a competition bringing the classic game of paper football right to your desktop.
Launched in early November, Thump Bowl is a new online competition in collaboration with the Meineke Car Care Bowl in which users log on to www.thumpbowl.com and match their paper football skills against a diverse pool of talent ranging from George Washington to the Abominable Snowman. Friends, classmates and coworkers throughout the nation are challenging each other to high score competitions in the revival of this memorable grade school classic.
Fame, fortune and bragging rights await the champions of what is being called one of the most non-athletic sporting events ever created. The three top scorers of the online competition will be announced on national television during the Meineke Car Care Bowl. In addition, one person will thump their way into winning the ultimate sports-watching package. Everyone who plays the game is entered into a sweepstakes drawing for a prize package that includes:
• 50” 1080p Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV
• Bose 3-2-1 GSX DVD Home Entertainment System
• Weber Summit S-650 6-Burner Propane Gas Grill W/ Rotisserie and Smoker
• Grill Accessories
• Omaha Steaks: “Monthly Smile Maker"
Users can play as many times as they like, but will only receive a sweeps entry once every 24 hours. To add to the spirit, all players will receive a Meineke service coupon for each game played.
The action is also spreading in Meineke stores across the nation, as Meineke customers are putting down magazines and newspapers and raising their thumbs and forefingers for paper football action.
For the third consecutive year, Meineke is the presenting sponsor of the Meineke Car Care Bowl held in Charlotte, North Carolina. This year’s competition is set for Saturday, December 29 at 1 p.m. and will feature a gridiron battle between the Big East Conference co-champion University of Connecticut Huskies and the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
