December 20, 2002: Carroll (Mont.) defeated Georgetown (Ky.), 28-7, to win the NAIA Championship.

December 20, 2002: Western Kentucky beat McNeese State, 34-14 to win the NCAA Division I-AA Championship.

December 21, 1918: Hobey Baker, Army pilot, died when his plane crashed in Tours, France. He was one of America's greatest athletes, the only man named to the College Football Hall of Fame and the International Hockey Hall of Fame. He was a Princeton halfback 1911-13. Baker was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1975.

December 21, 1984: Brigham Young defeated Michigan 24-17 in the Holiday Bowl. Brigham Young finished 13-0 and was named national champion.

December 21, 2001: North Dakota beat Grand valley 17-14 for its 6th title in NCAA Division II.

December 21, 2001: Montana beat Furman 13-6 for the NCAA I- AA championship.

December 21, 2002:
Mt. Union beat Trinity (TX), 48-7, to win the NCAA Division III title for the third straight year and the seventh time in 10 years. Mt. Union Closed the season with a 42-game winning streak. Coach Larry Kehres, in 17 years at Mt. Union, had a record of 192-17-3. His winning percentage, .912, was the highest in college football history.
