of the top schools in the nation. Founder Scott Kent said, "All
of our items are one of the two. If the player put the item on,
and they went on the field or court for a game, it's game-used.
Team-issued means the item had to be made specifically for that
program but was never used.” Each of the items are obtained
directly from the schools and guaranteed authentic.
As its name would indicate, collegejersey.com focuses on college items.
“That's our niche", said Kent. We want to stay focused
and serve the customers who want items from the college ranks."
It carries jerseys, helmets, pants and equipment, including shoes,
pads, facemasks, chinstraps and helmet stickers. "The concept
has remained the same and hence the collegejersey.com name".
Collegejersey.com offers jerseys from college football, baseball, basketball, hockey,
lacrosse, volleyball and soccer. These include hard-to-find jerseys
from bowl games and All-Star Games. "The bottom line is

from and up to 500 different items per category", Kent said.

Since he was a child, Kent has been a sports fan, and college
sports have always been his favorite. He thought it would be
great if he could ever turn that passion into a way to make a
living. Then, in 1997, he was searching eBay and saw a college
jersey for sale, which began the wheels turning. Having just
completed his MBA and having experience running a small business
in high school and college, he jumped right in. “I contacted
a school and purchased 10 jerseys”. He added his knowledge
and did a nice write up about the player and sold them on eBay.
The business took off from there.
"We have everything from good quality used items to outfit
your local team to high end memorabilia to be proudly displayed
in your rec room or office. The used items include jerseys, helmets,
pants, shoes, pads, chinstraps and other accessories These items
sell for as little as .99 cents each. On the memorabilia side,
we have everything from an Alex Smith Utah to a Doug Flutie Boston
College jersey.
“The fun part for us is digging into a new purchase and
deciding how to properly market the items. For example, if we
get a pair of shoes that were worn by a player of note they wouldn't
be sold as basic equipment, they would be sold as memorabilia.”
"I work with an equipment room and I buy directly from them
and they'll sell me all their shoes. I then piece through them
and say, 'These guys have some memorabilia value and this one
doesn't and it's more for outfitting a team. In the course of
our purchasing, there is a lot of value there where we sell the
equipment to somebody else that can reuse it." Kent said
when he goes to a university to make a purchase he says, "I'll
work with you guys to get whatever you don't need anymore. Sell
it all to me in one bulk purchase. I then take that purchase
and I decide where to place the items and how am I going to market
these items in a way so the customers can best use them. If there
are high-end items, they belong on the memorabilia side and we'll
market them appropriately. The rest of the stuff, say if it's
a bunch of shoes, we'll market those to people who are looking
to outfit a team or just get a high quality pair of athletic
shoes for a great price."
