Jake Waters threw for 271 yards and 3 touchdowns and Kansas State slammed Michigan 31-14 in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl in Temple, Arizona on Saturday night.

The Wildcats snapped a 5-bowl losing streak and finished the season 8-5, while the Wolverines lost a second consecutive bowl game and dropped to 7-6.

Devin Gardner had to yield the quarterback duties for Michigan to true freshman Shane Morris who completed 24-of-38 throws for 198 yards and led all Wolverine rushers with 43 yards on 4 carries. It was announced on December 26 by head coach Brady Hoke that Gardner had broken his left foot in the third quarter against Ohio State, but stayed in that game to lead three touchdown drives in the fourth.

Kansas State, which hadn't won a bowl game since 2002, never trailed in the game and led by as much as 31-6 before the Wolverines scored their only touchdown with 1:15 to play in the game.

John Hubert ran for a TD and rushed for 80 yards as Kansas State amassed 420 total yards.

Kansas State improved to 7-10 in bowl games all-time while the Maize & Blue fell to 20-23. Michigan had won only 2 of its last 9 bowl games and hasn't achieved consecutive bowl wins since 1999-2000.

The Congrove Computer Rankings at CollegeFootballPoll.com had Kansas State favored by just 0.42 points.
