USF Takes Their Ford For A Ride

Mike Ford ran for a career high 207 yards and a TD as USF outscored Northern Illinois 24-0 in the second half of its International Bowl win over Northern Illinois. Of Ford's total, 189 yards cane in the second half.

Redshirt freshman quarterback B.J. Daniels completed of 14-of-22 passes for 217 yards. He had touchdown tosses of 46 and 7 yards to A.J. Love.

USF began the year with Matt Grothe under center and he set the BIG EAST career record for total offense (10,875 yards) at Western Kentucky in the second game of the season. Unfortunately, Grothe suffered a season-ending knee injury the following week against Charleston Southern. Daniels stepped in and threw for 1,766 yards and 12 touchdowns with 9 interceptions during the regular season, and was the Bulls’ leading rusher with 798 yards and 9 touchdowns.

The Bulls improved to 3-2 in their fifth consecutive bowl appearance.

The Huskies entered the contest as the MAC leaders in rushing offense, and ranked 17th nationally, but the Bulls held them to just 108 yards. Leading rusher Chad Spann managed 93 yards on 20 carries.

Northern Illinois fell to 2-3 in bowl games with its 3rd straight bowl loss.
