McCluster Carries Ole Miss To 21st Bowl Win

Two touchdowns in the final 4:03 of the game broke a 7-7 tie and lifted Ole Miss past Oklahoma State in the Cotton Bowl.
Dexter McCluster scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 2-yard run from a direct snap, part of his 182-yard performance that included an 86-yard run for a 7-0 lead in the 2nd quarter. A 34-yard fumble return closed out the scoring three plays later.
The Rebels improved to 21-12 in bowl games with their 4th straight bowl win. Ole Miss owns the 3rd-best winning percentage among teams with at least 20 bowl appearances.
Mississippi beat Texas Tech 47-34 in this game last year. Its last three bowl appearances have been in the Cotton, inclduing a 31-28 win over Oklahoma State at the end of the 2003 season.
Oklahoma State's last six possessions ended with turonovers, including five by QB Zac Robinson - a fumble and 4 inteceptions.
The Cowboys lost for the fourth time in their last six bowl games and are now 12-8 overall in the postseason. |
