Air Force Intercepts Houston 6 Times in 47-20 Win
by CFP Staff
December 31, 2009
Air Force intercepted Case Keenum 6 times in a 47-20 Armed Forces Bowl victory over Houston that improved the Mountain West's bowl record to 4-0.
The Falcons piled up 562 yards of offense and held the nation's top passer to 222 yards and 1 touchdown. Jared Tew (176 yards) and Asher Clark (127 yards) each scored two touchdowns to lead the nation's 3rd-ranked rushing offense.
Air Force avenged a 34-28 defeat to Houston in last year's Armed Forces Bowl and ended a 3-bowl losing streak. The Falcons had not won a postseason game since the 2000 Silicon Valley Classic. It was their third straight appearance in this game.
The Cougars have lost 9 of their last 10 bowl games.
Trailing 24-6 at halftime, Houston's Tyron Carrier returned the 2nd-half kickoff 79 yards for a touchdown. Jonathan Warzeka responded for the Falcons by then returning the Houston kickoff for a touchdown from 2 yards deep in his end zone. |
